Dangojiruya

For an early meal that’s more substantial than a simple soup, Dangojiruya’s dango-jiru is worth noting. Visitors report a generous amount of suìton, with dumplings floating in the miso broth in a way one reviewer likened to oden. They found it satisfying as a quick breakfast. One report puts a bowl at 200 yen. The simple soup, with Chinese cabbage, fried tofu and onion among its ingredients, can also be enjoyed as it is.

Toppings on offer include raw egg, tempura crumbs and garlic. One diner who chose all of them felt the garlic stood out against the chewy dumplings and mellow miso flavour. Go for the full set if you want a pronounced garlic taste, or try the soup without toppings first. Another visitor added shichimi chilli pepper to taste. Beer is also available, and some diners have reported enjoying it alongside their dango-jiru.

You can eat in or take your meal away. Listed opening hours are 1:30 to 8:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; the shop is closed on Mondays and Thursdays. Payment is cash only.
